Would Heu-Risk It?

Tools, traps and weapons for Software Testing

Testing skills demystified through 30 thought provoking lessons,
told through a unique format mixing rhymes, theory and stories.

This book originated from my first workshops using the WHRI-cards.
The participants were curious to my ideas and thoughts behind some cards and I realized I kept telling the same stories.
I love stories. I tend to teach and explain things in stories. And suddenly I had found the book that had been waiting to be written by me.
The cards are meant to have a meaning to YOU, but of course they also have a meaning for ME. This book is a collection of those meanings and stories.

Software testing is a million dollar industry with an ever-growing number of professionals wanting to get into the business, skill up and/or deepen their knowledge. Software is in everything and with an ever-increasing need for speed, the need for good, skillful testing is bigger than ever. Software testing includes so many different activities, from critically investigating business requirements and suggested software solutions to exploring and investigating the finished product. It involves automation and tool usage as well as manual work. Finding problems before they hit the user can save businesses large amounts of money, and bad will. Finding it swiftly is key.

While most books about software testing focus on a classic textbook approach to teaching, this book choses to teach through telling stories in a fun, easy to digest way. 30 important lessons learned through working in software development for more than twenty years. It varies from the very basics to some very technical points many testers seldom know or care about. This is a book where most can find parts to learn from, while others will make them smile because they recognize the problem well.

Many books today are aimed at either “manual testers”, automation engineers or developers. This book has something to teach anyone who comes into contact with testing in their work and tries to weave people, business and technical skills into the same stories.
